The Tempest Rally is held on the 9th November at several venues around Fleet just off the M3, I was asked if I would go to help crew Guardian Rescue as they had been to Jersey to help us in the summer so I had to say yes, I stayed with a friend that is circuit supervisor at Goodwood Motor Circuit so got roped in to set up the Stage called Warren which is a massive wood land with 30 + miles of gravel tracks through it, so on the Friday we put up 150 plus stacks and orange plastic barrier so that the event was ready for the Saturday 08.00 start which meant leaving Goodwood at 05.00. When we left it was minus 1 degrees, on arriving we put up the start line clocks and waited for the event to start. The event regularly attracts upwards of 120 starters from clubman’s eventers to television and radio presenters such as Tony Jardine who rally’s on a regular basis and Steve Fleck who has won the Jersey Rally, I am glad to say the rescue unit was not required although I did go in to stage to help with a tow of a driver that got stuck in a 4’ deep ditch.
